"Make Music Madison" is a city-wide, day-long solstice celebration of music. Hundreds of public locations and private businesses throughout the city will host live musicians all day long. MCGS participated last year and it was some great exposure.
We're back again this year and have SEVEN time slots confirmed at seven different registered locations around the city throughout the entire day. This is a fantastic opportunity to get this music we love in front of a LOT of new people. Let me know if you'd like to play or help out with the logistics. You don't need to commit to all the locations - you don't even need to stay the entire session if you don't want to, but if you're able to come out and play a bit at a couple spots, please let me know ASAP.

Wendigo - First Thursdays Concert Series

Classical Guitar Showcase
Casual Club

Tom Nauman will be hosting the next session of the Casual Club at his home on Friday, May 8th starting at 7:00p. BYOB BYOG
These will be a series of privately hosted (non-public) events aimed at playing guitar together. We'd like to give those who are maybe a little nervous or don't feel that they're quite ready for the public spotlight a chance to work through some pieces (or parts of pieces) and to get advice and support from the group. That said, we can make these casual, members-only events anything we want them to be. Want to sight-read some quartets? We can have a night for that. Want some pointers on what to look for when you're shopping for a guitar? We can do that to. The point is that we'd like these to be about our members and making music and talking shop in a welcoming environment.

Overture Center - Wisconsin Studio
We'll be hosting these two great performers at the Overture Center in the Wisconsin Studio for a special concert. $15 for MCGS members, $20 for general public. Donations welcome, as always. Please put this on your calendar and help us get people out for this one. True masters at work. There will be an open reception for members and anyone interested in the MCGS preceding the concert starting around 4:00. Stop by early! If you'd like a little taste before the big show, they'll be taking part in our Guitar Showcase at Lakeside St Coffee House the night before on April 3rd as part of an open and free-to-attend masterclass! The normal volunteer performers are welcome as always, but those interested will have the option for some feedback and guidance from our guest artists. Whether you're a participating player or not, these exchanges are always a fascinating glimpse inside the artist's craft.
